The Cape Crusader is back with another gritty and entertaining story arc that offers readers an interesting look at not only Batman himself, but also the Gotham City Police Department. Unlikely people find themselves in the middle of the tale in this first issue and it sets up many more issues to come.
Batman continues to be my favorite superhero, at least on the DC Comics side of things and I’m continually looking for new story arcs featuring the character. When the Eternal series was announced I eagerly awaited the beginning to this WEEKLY series and finally it arrived.
Batman Eternal #1 opens with action and dares readers to dive in immediately. It was a sense of seeing the end before the beginning that lured me into more than one read thru. A focus on the Gotham City Police Department and Jim Gordon throughout help you to understand the backstory the writers hope to convey in this series.
One of my favorite, but not so talked about villains is found in this issue and offers readers a fresh look at the city in comparison the usual Joker or Two-Face.
With a few twists and turns Batman Eternal #1 is setting up another great weekly Batman series. If you’re looking to dive into a new Batman comic book series from the beginning then this is a great way to start.
